Introductory Intensive
Overview
Wisdom holders in numerous traditions assert that there is one single key to saving humanity: Human reconnection with the natural world. In this one, complex action, we would return to the worldview of the millenia that preceded us--speaking, acting, and creating choices from a connected place, taking into account the health and vitality of living beings around us. For generations, many Indigenous peoples have maintained their connection to the natural world. Some are willing to remind us of the importance of this relationship, to show us the way back to our essential humanity, as we too, are an extension of our mother earth.

Part survival skills, spiritual journey, and life coaching, this course will address connection, from the thorn on a rose bush to the planet as one living whole. Participants will explore fitting seamlessly into the forest, as well as how to manifest the life they want by plugging into the oneness of the ecosystem. We will create a supportive, trusted community of participants, practitioners, pinecones, and sky. We will walk, meditate, build, write, reflect, read, and share.
Logistics
This course will span 6 months, meeting twice a month, for a total of 12 sessions. We will gather for four hours these twelve times at our cabin above Nederland in Eldora (30 minutes from Boulder). Overnight camping options will be available for folks who want to make a weekend of it. There is abundant opportunity for hiking and fishing nearby, as well as dining in the increasingly hip town of Nederland. This first time will be limited to seven participants; with Ian as facilitator and Rachel as support, the total community count will be nine. COVID precautions will be enforced if still necessary at this time, including masks, social distancing, and the avoidance of indoor congregation.
In between every session, Ian will offer each participant a 30 minute coaching session. Readings and explorations will be assigned from a curriculum based on Ian’s background as an Indigenous person and teacher--a decolonization and wilderness connection reader.
